Bake-at-Home Energy Bar Rated Best in Taste

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) November 14, 2006 -- Matisse & Jack's new product, TrailBlaze, was named the best tasting energy bar of eleven leading bars by the Denver Post on October 10. TrailBlaze is an all-natural, homemade bar that is baked fresh from a mix. The newspaper assembled a panel of ten "athletes, foodies and chocoholics" to judge each bar on taste and texture. TrailBlaze scored above the conventional bars by a large margin (see results below). The bake-at-home bar also stood out nutritionally, containing less saturated fat, while qualifying as a good source of protein, iron, calcium and fiber, and featuring up to 650 mg of Omega-3 "good fats".

This recognition supports Matisse & Jack's philosophy that "homemade is best". Typical bars, which are highly processed and packaged for a long shelf, often taste stale. On the contrary, TrailBlaze bars taste fresh-- like a baked treat that with a healthy nutritional profile (and only half the sugar, per bar, of typical energy bars.) Company founder, Sarika Singh, also contends that "the appeal of 'homemade' will never go out of style. Nothing beats the experience of a fresh baked treat. Matisse & Jack's products make the process easy, and the end result is delicious and wholesome."

The mixes are available in two flavors: Chocolate Chip and Cranberry Walnut. Both flavors contain wholesome, junk-free ingredients such as organic oats and organic flax seed, nuts, dried fruits and chocolate. Matisse & Jack's products make the homemade experience easy. Preparing TrailBlaze bars is as simple as making brownies: just add applesauce and/or yogurt to the dry mix and bake. The bars can also be made according to individual preference (e.g., dairy-free, lower sugar, and even an "energy cookie" variation). Each box of mix yields nine fresh bars which cost roughly half the price of a typical packaged bar.

TrailBlaze is available online (www.MatisseAndJacks.com) and in stores around the San Francisco Bay Area (Whole Foods, Andronico's), Sacramento, and British Columbia. The company is also partnering with outdoor sports organizations, such as Redwood Trails to promote this eco-friendly and tasty alternative to energy bars. "We supply our aide stations with fresh-baked Matisse & Jack's and the response from our athletes has been outstanding," remarked Eric Gould, race organizer for Redwood Trails. "The energy bars are hands-down the best tasting we've had. This was the first time that there have been no leftover energy bars at one of our races."

Matisse & Jack's is a natural foods company aimed at empowering consumers with more personal control of food through easy and delicious bake-at-home snacks.
